Many significant milestones are reached in the making of history. The founding of Ormiston College in 1988 saw children from Year 1 to Year 5 enter as students of the school. Just three years later, those children, plus many more, witnessed the expansion of the College campus and the first buildings of the Secondary School. Come 1995, the College celebrated the very first Year 12 graduation ceremony. An extremely significant year, as it changed the name and social structure of our Ormiston College community.
Our Year 12 students automatically became Old Collegians and the parents of the 1995 cohort took on the affectionate title of POPS (Parents of Past Students). A notably important milestone.
Over the years, we have seen the College grounds increase from 16 acres to the magnificent 67-acre campus that it is today. Our POPS community continues to grow each year, and our graduating students, now known as the OC Alumni, continue to make us proud as we hear news of many outstanding achievements they have accomplished, locally, nationally and globally.
In recent years, we have reached yet another milestone, one that is too important to ignore. That is the presence of second-generation students that are now following in the path of a parent whose education and childhood was spent at Ormiston College. An undeniable sign that great lifelong memories were gained during those precious and important school years. Precious memories they would now like their child to experience.
The College wishes to recognise and acknowledge the significance of our intergenerational bond by introducing a Generations’ Breakfast, one that will become a biennial College tradition.
We look forward to sharing this inaugural event with our intergenerational families, knowing it to be the forerunner of a new and exciting College tradition, one that will be enjoyed by a very special group of people.
