The Australian Mathematics Trust, the highly respected national organisation based at the University of Canberra, is responsible for the organisation of the longstanding ICAS mathematics competition which is held throughout the world.
Last week the College was delighted to receive outstanding results from the prestigious international competition. However, the event has now been highlighted by a further announcement from the Australian Mathematics Trust, informing the College that Year 8 student, Dakota Miller, excelled to such a high degree, that he is to be awarded with a Medal.
Dr Ian Thomson, Head of Mathematics at Ormiston College, stated “No more than one in ten thousand students are given this recognition. Our young mathlete will be flown, all expenses paid, to Western Australia, where he will be presented with his Medal at a special ceremony to be held at Perth Government House on 6 November.”
An outstanding and well deserved achievement for Dakota Miller. An excellent overall result for our student competitors and congratulations to the Ormiston College Mathematics Department for the obvious inspiration it provides to our students.
