Senior Visual Art students recently enjoyed a day at GOMA, Queensland Art Gallery (QAG) and the QUT Art Museum. A highlight of the day was seeing the thickly painted, highly direct and expressive work of Australian artist, Ben Quilty. His Archibald winning Portrait of Margaret Olley provided a breathtaking link to an exhibition of his friend and mentor, Margaret Olley. At the QUT Art Museum, students were guided around Vis-ability where works from the collection were curated so that we could experience art using all of our senses. Students explored ways that art can be created using more than just our sense of sight. They felt, heard and experienced art in new and exciting ways.
