TAS Swimming - Redbacks Perform Brilliantly

The OC Swim Team performed brilliantly today with some fine individual and relay performances. Whilst we missed out on the combined Aggregate by 18 points, we did narrow the margin by 4 points, with JPC taking home the trophy.

The Boys collected the Percentage trophy, with the Girls in 2nd place. The Boys also won the Boys Aggregate, with the Girls finishing in 4th place. The 12 Year Boys won the Age Group trophy as did the 15 Year Boys, the 17 Year Boys and 16 Year Boys both placed second in their Age Groups.

The 15 Year Boys (Oliver Collins, Darcy O’Brien, Kai Watson, Ben Garozzo) are a dynamic team, missing both relays records by small margins – Medley: 1:59.84 (a 1995 record) recording 2:00.31 and Freestyle: 1.45.94 (a 1992 record) touching in at 1:47.23. The Boys also smashed the freestyle events with wins in the 100m (Ben) and 50 Free A, B and C divisions (Darcy, Kai and Ollie).

Yaroslav Zharkov (12 Year Boys) is the Age Champion and broke 2 records in his first two swims of the day – 50m Breast and 50m Back! The 12 Year Boys (Yaroslav, Max Boultbee, Freddie Foort, Jonathon Yeabsley) are also a team to keep an eye on, comfortably winning both the Medley and Freestyle relays.

A number of other students claimed noteworthy placings over the day.

Thank you for your support of our mighty Redback Swimmers – they certainly did us proud today!
