Year 11 and 12 Art students participated with creativity in action during their recent visit to the Asia Pacific Triennial 8 at QAG/GOMA. The exhibition comments on global issues such as migration, cultural change and historical perceptions presented through interactive installations, sculpture, digital technology and painting.
We were privileged to have a fascinating ‘behind the scenes’ tour of the Conservation Lab where an Art Conservator discussed the interwoven nature of the Science and Art disciplines when handling artworks in their collection.
The students also visited Queensland College of Art, Griffith University at Southbank where they were guided through an exhibition of some leading contemporary Australian artists. We explored the QCA Campus and had a personalised tour of the Jewellery and Small Objects studios.
It was an insightful day and students returned with renewed inspiration to apply new ideas to their own art making.
