During History this term, Year 5 completed a unit of work which focusses on the gold rush era in Australia.
This is a highly engaging unit of work which is always popular with the students.
We held our annual gold day on Wednesday 18 November, where the students came to school dressed in colonial style clothes and completed a range of activities typical of the time period.
The students panned for gold and weighed their gold at the assay office, learnt how to sew, made damper, danced and completed their all-time favourite, cookie mining. They also enjoyed playing marbles, hopscotch and fossicking for gold nuggets in the dry creek bed.
It was a fun day had by all.
