There was no easing back into the school routine for our Year 7 historians this week. Instead, they jumped out of the classroom to get some practical (and tactile) experience working as Egyptologists.
Building on their knowledge of this fascinating civilisation, students enjoyed a session interpreting and analysing a wide range of Egyptian artefacts. This hands on experience has allowed students to apply their understanding in a meaningful way and further develop their historical skills.
In the next few weeks these skills will be put to the test in their research task where they will be asked to select and justify the inclusion of artefacts in a museum exhibit. Their objects will then become part of a virtual museum that I am confident would rival the Louvre or the British Museum.
