On Friday 14 October the Year 7s engaged in an incursion where they stepped back in time to the magnificent period of Ancient History – Egypt. The Hall of Fame was full of tables scattered with artefacts and replicas of this civilisation. Students got to groom, play and dress up using the items on display. It was a wonderful opportunity for the students to orientate themselves and hook them in for their upcoming research assignment which is based on an ancient Egyptian artefact. The students had a thoroughly enjoyable time being ancient Egyptians for a couple of hours!

The History incursion was led by Barbara and she briefed us about the different tables that surrounded the classes sitting in the centre; and how they related to Egyptian life. Each table was dedicated to a different aspect of Egyptian life such as legacies, food and clothing etc. Barbara taught us many new facts about Egypt, in particular, how when the Egyptians had to wash their clothes the men would go down to the river with their weapons and fight off any crocodiles that attacked them while they were cleaning. One characteristic of the incursion that my cohort particularly enjoyed was the dress-up area where one may decide to dress in makeshift clothes from Egypt. On behalf of my cohort I can say with certainty that we enjoyed this incursion thoroughly and I definitely recommend it to other students.
