On Tuesday 8 March, the Year 9 Business and Commerce classes held the launch event for the Year 9 ABW café simulation program. The owner and the chef of local café, Refuelled, visited the College and spoke to students about the establishment and day-to-day running of the café. Year 9 students were then treated to a visit to the café at Wellington Point for afternoon tea and to get a real feel for the business.
Students will spend the next three weeks in the establishment phase of the simulation getting a feel for costs and what the best pricing options are. Next term the 10 café groups will enter the competitive phase competing over a 3-year simulation period making quarterly decisions. During this phase management groups can expand their chain up to 5 cafes.
