On Friday 16 October the Year 9 students welcomed parents, teachers and peers to view their exhibit ‘Exploring the Human Figure’ in the Shared Space Gallery. This exhibit showcased work from the first three terms of 2015.
On display were life drawings from Term 1: Capturing an Emotion, where students had sketched a life model and experimented with a variety of mediums to create large, spontaneous drawings from a variety of poses. These works were expressive and colourful and created a lot of interest. Work from Term 2: Journey of the Figure included new media presentations. The students animated their figure drawing using digital technologies to tell a story of a journey. Our main attraction though, were The Nasubi Galleries. Using the strength of visual language and innovative solutions, students protested silently about issues faced in everyday life.
With a strong showing, voting for our top three galleries proved difficult and it was up to Headmaster Mr Brett Webster to cast the deciding vote. We would like to thank all who supported this event and would like to extend our congratulations to the three prize winners of the top three galleries; Jade Cooper, Georgia Kelly and Tom Holzberger.
