In the final week of Term 2, a team of five Year 6 Readers battled it out against over 20 other schools from across the Redlands in the Bayside Readers Cup. Each member of the team was responsible for reading the five set novels, and meeting once a term to quiz their teammates about the plot, characters, setting and other key elements in each novel. Students also got to meet Australian author Remy Lai (author of ‘Pie in the Sky’, ‘Fly on the Wall’ and ‘Pawcasso’) who was MC for the event.

Earlier in the term, Ormiston College hosted the Bayside Readers Cup for Years 7 and 8. Two teams represented OC in the competition with a total of 19 teams competing from 15 schools across the Redlands. Guest speaker, author Richard Yaxley kept the teams entertained with trivia between rounds, as well as giving insight into his writing process.

The Readers Cup competition is always a highly anticipated event and a great way to celebrate and share a love of reading with new friends from different schools.
