Presently, Year 6 are working on a unit of studies on Natural Disasters. To support this, Mr Morgan liaised with Luke Forster from the local branch of the State Emergency Services (SES) and on Friday 29 April, personnel from the local branch of the SES visited the College.

During the visit, the SES members discussed at length their vital role in helping the community in times of disaster. They demonstrated and explained how the SES assists the community, prepares for, responds to and recovers from natural disasters. They also explained how they support other emergency services by conducting search and rescue operations and crime scene forensic searches, as well as providing community preparedness and safety education. The students were lucky enough to view an SES vehicle, boat and an array of equipment. All students enjoyed the informative and interesting incursion.

We thank the SES for taking the time to visit Ormiston College and for their significant contributions to the safety of our community.
