Students across the College celebrated Book Week with a range of engaging activities that brought the Children's Book Council of Australia (CBCA) 2026 theme, Symphony of Stories, to life.
Throughout the week, students immersed themselves in the joy of reading through activities including Mystery Readers before school, Book Week Bingo, Escape Room challenges and Buddy Reading sessions. During Library and Literacy lessons, students explored the CBCA shortlisted titles, fostering a deeper appreciation for Australian literature, libraries and reading.
A highlight of the celebrations was the opportunity to meet two renowned Australian authors. Students from Prep to Year 4 enjoyed energetic and entertaining presentations by Nat Amoore, whose engaging and humorous storytelling captivated young readers. Students in Years 5 to 9 attended insightful sessions with award-winning author Katrina Nannestad, who shared her passion for writing and offered a fascinating glimpse into the process of creating historical fiction. Following both visits, the authors' books quickly became some of the most popular titles in the library.
The celebrations culminated in the much-anticipated Junior School Book Week Parade. Dressed as favourite literary characters or inspired by the Symphony of Stories theme, students proudly showcased their creativity and imagination. The Junior School courtyard was filled with colour and excitement as families gathered to enjoy the special event.
Book Week provided a wonderful opportunity for students to discover new stories, connect with authors and celebrate the power of literature. Through reading and shared experiences, students embraced the magic of storytelling and the important role books play in inspiring curiosity, imagination and lifelong learning.
