Our Drama tuition students have achieved remarkable recognition at two prestigious events recently.
Brisbane Performing Arts Challenge
On Saturday 14 June, a selection of our talented Drama tuition students competed in the Acting Scholarships category of the prestigious Brisbane Performing Arts Challenge. This high-level, knock-out style competition took place over three rounds and included a scholarship class, semi-final performance and final performance adjudicated by professional actors.
Our students performed brilliantly across all age sections and achieved the following results:
Junior Acting Scholarship:
- Encouragement Award (3rd place): Edison A
- Finalists: Jorja A, Sarah L, Ainsley M, Hayley O
- Semi-Finalists: Vivian B, Carys C, Sophie L, Christine P
Intermediate Acting Scholarship:
- Winner: Sienna E
- Encouragement Award (3rd place): Emily M
Senior Acting Scholarship:
- Semi-Finalist: Theo H
- Finalists: Rachel H, Alannah G
Congratulations to all the students who represented Ormiston College with exceptional skill, preparation, and creativity. We are proud of the way they encouraged and supported one another, and their fellow competitors, throughout the events.
Barbara Sisley Awards
The annual Barbara Sisley Awards hosted by The Communication, Speech and Performance Teachers Inc recognises students who have achieved the highest Speech and Drama examination results in Queensland (AMEB or Trinity College London) in the preceding year.
Congratulations to the following students from Ormiston College who were recognised at this year’s event:
- Junior School: Edison A, Penelope W, Vienna T
- Middle School: Freya D, Sienna E, Katie S
This achievement is a testament to the dedication, passion, and hard work of these young actors.
