Last night, the League of Legends Redbacks eSports team came through with a stellar performance to take out the 2021 High School League of Legends Queensland Championships, run by the University of Queensland (UQ) for the mixed division. They have been training and playing tournament games each week on Tuesday evenings from the Design Lounge in the CLI since early March.

In the finals run, OC defeated teams in "best-of-three" matches from all over QLD, including Mueller College (north of Brisbane) in the quarter finals, Matthew Flinders College (Townsville) in a very close semi-final, and clutching the Grand Final against the Aquinas College team (Gold Coast).

The League of Legends team is made up of members, Samuel Bond-Murphy (Year 12), Peyton Bird (Year 9), Thomas Hamilton (Year 9), Sean Veenboer (Year 9), DJ Symons (Year 8), coached by Tristan Priddy, an OC graduate. The exciting game was commentated by Jacob Isles (Year 9) and Charlie Holder (Year 9).

The teamwork, communication, strategic thinking and game play has been impeccable this season. Well done to all players.
