Each year Ormiston College participates in the University of New South Wales, International Competition of Assessment in Schools (ICAS). Students in Years 3 to 6 are given the opportunity to take part in this competition in the areas of English, Mathematics and Science. These competitions provide a wonderful opportunity to extend our students’ thinking and challenge their understanding in these important learning areas. While we acknowledge our high achievers on assembly, we congratulate all our students on their participation in this competition.
Last year we were extremely proud to have two students, Brandon Grant and Riley O’Brien, achieve the top score for their year level and were awarded medals at a special ceremony. To put this accomplishment into perspective, out of 980,000 entries, only 514 students across Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Region received medals. Well done!
More information about these competitions will be coming home shortly, however, you can also find out more on the Educational Assessment Australia website: https://www.eaa.unsw.edu.au/icas/
