Ormiston College Geography Dux, Zoe Zhao (Class of 2024), was awarded the prestigious She Maps Outstanding Geospatial Student Award 2025 during a gala celebration at the combined FIG Working Week/Locate25 conference on Monday, 7 April.

Held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, the Award organised by She Maps with the endorsement and support of the Geospatial Council of Australia and The Surveyors’ Trust, recognises high achievements of students through passion, curiosity, and leadership.

As part of her nomination, Zoe submitted her Geography reports: Weed Invasions on Home Beach at North Stradbroke Island/Minjerribah, and Demographic Challenges of Yarrabilba, Logan City. Completed during her Year 12 studies at Ormiston College, these reports incorporated substantial geospatial data presentation and analysis.

Zoe’s acknowledgement highlights the incredible talent and innovation emerging from Ormiston College in the geospatial field. Mr Paul Mead, co-founder of She Maps, outlined Zoe’s outstanding accomplishments, stating that he believed she would be piquing the attention of geospatial business and government departments eager to connect with her.

This award is a testament to Zoe’s hard work, passion, and potential to shape the future of the industry. We congratulate Zoe on this well-deserved achievement and look forward to her continued success.
