Our annual Careers Expo, held in June, is a key event for Senior students as they begin to think about life beyond the classroom. Designed to broaden horizons and connect learning with real-world opportunities, the expo provided invaluable insights into a wide range of career pathways.
Organised by the College’s Student Support Services team, the event aims to guide students through what can often feel like a daunting process. With the modern job market rapidly evolving, initiatives such as the Careers Expo play a crucial role in helping students better understand their options and prepare for what lies ahead.
By bringing together industry professionals, the expo fostered meaningful connections and offered students a firsthand look into various fields. Volunteers included Ormiston College Alumni and current parents ranging from finance professionals and medical practitioners to business owners. Their willingness to share experiences and insights gave students a practical understanding of the skills, pathways and opportunities within these industries.
In addition to industry engagement, 13 tertiary education providers were present, supplying detailed information on further study and training opportunities. This combination of perspectives allowed students to not only explore potential career directions but also gain clarity on the steps required to pursue them.
Events like the Careers Expo are instrumental in bridging the gap between education and employment. By raising awareness of the current labour market, strengthening networks, and encouraging students to consider a broader range of possibilities, the expo empowers young people to make informed decisions about their futures.
Ormiston College extends its sincere thanks to the industry representatives and tertiary providers for giving their time to provide students with valuable insights and resources.
