The Ormiston College production of Legally Blonde The Musical wowed audiences over four performances in the Lingo Lin Performing Arts Theatre during May. With a cast and crew of over 80 students, the Musical was a highlight in the school year and showcased the incredible talent and showmanship of our students.
Produced by Mrs Louise Scott and directed by Ms Jackie McCarthy, the musical followed the transformation of Elle Woods as she tackles stereotypes and scandal in pursuit of her dreams. The cast delivered an unforgettable performance filled with laughter, heartfelt moments, and high-energy musical numbers.
The production was supported by a live, 15-piece orchestra under the musical direction of Mr Jason Taggart and choreography by Mrs Astin Hammermeister bringing each scene to life with flair. The fantastic set design, sound and lighting, and over 270 colourful costumes all contributed to an experience that transported the audience directly to Harvard Law School in style.
Mrs Scott praised the dedication and professionalism of all the students, saying, “I was blown away by the energy and talent of our young performers. I have watched them bring this show to life with Broadway-level skill, passion and commitment, which has been nothing short of inspiring.”
The Musical drew enthusiastic praise from audiences with one audience member commenting, “A great example of what can happen when teachers and students collaborate to put together a great interpretation of song and dance.” Another agreed, saying, “The energy and passion that the young students put into their roles in the musical was captivating and so inspiring.
