The 12th Say No to Bullying Middle School Cup was a highlight during Term 3 at Ormiston College showing the ability of sport to unite. This much-anticipated annual event brought together 45 teams of Middle School students in a knock-out football competition, promoting our stance against bullying and highlighting the importance of a safe and supportive environment for all students. Participation, cooperation, respect of one another, good sportsmanship, and most importantly getting along and having fun are the main aims of this tournament.

The competition kicked off with a vibrant opening ceremony, where students proudly represented countries from around the globe in a display of colour and creativity. This year, the team representing Italy claimed the Best Dressed Award for their representation of Italian culture and a love of pizza.

Over the course of five weeks, all matches were played in good spirit culminating in the highly anticipated Grand Final on Friday 12 September. The Middle School students gathered eagerly to watch India (Year 8) take on the might of Bulgaria (Year 9). In an exciting match, Bulgaria secured the victory, with some outstanding football and a great fightback from India, keeping the crowd entertained throughout.

The Grand Final was attended by the Head of Middle Years, Mr Phillip Makridakis, who congratulated the students on their efforts and reinforced the message of respect and inclusion.

The success of this year’s event once again underscored the importance of creating opportunities for young people to connect and grow together in a positive and inclusive environment. Congratulations to all students for coming together and making this year’s Say No to Bullying Middle School Cup a wonderful experience for all.
