Ormiston College's very own Claire Dewar was amongst 160 students from across South East Queensland who auditioned for a place in the elite Queensland Theatre Youth Ensemble. Claire was successful in filling one of the 25 spaces in the Junior (Years 9 and 10) Ensemble, a massive achievement.
Queensland Theatre provide this amazing opportunity for motivated, passionate and talented young performers to develop their skills as actors by working with theatre professionals throughout the year long Youth Ensemble program. The year-long program will demand a high level of commitment from participants and will celebrate and strive for excellence.
Claire has already commenced her hours of training each Tuesday afternoon with theatre professionals to develop and advance her skills as an actor. Each ensemble is working towards a performance showcase season at a Queensland Theatre home venue. At their first rehearsal, Sam Strong (Queensland Theatre Artistic Director) welcomed the students by congratulating them all on their successful auditions into this highly sought after and elite program. He explained to the students that they are the future of theatre in Qld and that the aim of the program is to train up these young people to be the performers of tomorrow.
What an outstanding achievement, well done Claire!
