Once again, our OC Singers have spread Christmas cheer in the local community.
On Monday 20 November, students from Years 5 and 6 represented Ormiston College as they went “on tour” around the Redlands to share Christmas joy and songs with residents at Regis Aged Care in Birkdale and Cleveland Manor Retirement Village. Our senior citizens were first treated to a performance of the students’ choir songs; they then joined the children, singing Christmas carols together.
While Ms Claire Brennan played a variety of carols, the children and residents raised the roof, singing the joy and sharing the love of Christmas. The children had made cards for their adopted grandparents and made sure each audience member received a special card of their own.
Christmas is the season of sharing and our thanks go to Regis Aged Care for providing morning tea for the students. The day wrapped up with lunch at McDonalds’ Ormiston, having a play and enjoying time together.
This annual tour gives our students the opportunity to showcase Ormiston College’s choral program and Junior School to the local community; it provides an occasion for the students to celebrate the group’s effort and achievements throughout the year. Many thanks to Mrs Emma Dron, Mrs Rowena James and Ms Maree Hall for organising this year’s event. Special thanks to Mrs Ruth Ryan, our photographer, and to Mrs Tiff Botwright and Mr Peter O’Brien for their help supervising on the day.
