Ormiston College has once again been recognised as one of the state’s top-performing schools with our 2018 NAPLAN results being among the very best in the state.
According to a recent report in The Courier-Mail (Wednesday, August 29, 2018) of Queensland’s top 20 schools, Ormiston College is the only bayside school to make it into Queensland’s top seven in both Year 7 and Year 9, and is also Redland City’s top-performing school.
While there may be some debate about the validity of national testing such as NAPLAN, one cannot argue that developing strong literacy and numeracy skills is paramount to ensuring our students are able to succeed not only in school but also throughout their lives. Strong literacy and numeracy skills are essential if students are going to successfully access the wider curriculum; the ability to read, write, interpret and communicate mathematical information and ideas allows students to effectively meet the everyday demands of life.
These outstanding results are a worthy celebration of both students’ efforts and staff dedication to the improvement of the literacy and numeracy skills of their students.
