Students from Prep to Year 12 gathered in the Southern Courtyard on the morning of Friday 24 April for a moving ANZAC Day Ceremony to honour those who have served and continue to serve our country. The event was attended by special guests Mr Paul Oates from the Cleveland RSL Club Branch and Mrs Hayden, Member of the Ormiston College Board of Directors.
The ceremony provided a meaningful opportunity for students and staff to pause and reflect on the courage, resilience and dedication of our servicemen and women. Music played an integral role in the commemorations, with stirring performances by Singers, Octave and Chorale who delivered a heartfelt rendition of Dona Nobis. Mr Leon Iconimidis concluded the wreath laying by Headmaster Mr Michael Hornby, special guests, and students with a performance of Can You Hear Australia Marching.
The College extends a sincere thank you to Mr Paul Oates for addressing the gathering. His words offered valuable insight and reinforced the enduring importance of ANZAC Day.
The service concluded with a minute’s silence, allowing all in attendance to reflect quietly and personally. This was followed by the sounding of the Rouse, performed by College Captain John Cowen.
Lest we forget.
