Ormiston College students and staff came together for the fourth annual The Clip fundraising event. Held on Wednesday 22 April, the 2026 event saw 36 Year 12 boys take part, raising funds and awareness for a disease that affects more than 26,000 men in Australia each year.
This year’s event raised over $28,000 for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia (PCFA), marking the highest total since the initiative began in 2023.
Organised by the Service Leadership Committee, the event was opened by 2026 Service Leadership Prefect Angus, who thanked the community for its generous support. He also shared that more than $70,000 has been raised for PCFA over the past four years.
PCFA representative, Jason Castle, accepted a cheque on behalf of the organisation and expressed heartfelt gratitude to everyone involved. He highlighted how the funds would support ongoing research, raise awareness, and provide essential services to those affected by the disease.
Wendy Turk from Sustainable Salons, an organisation which aids in diverting up to 95% of salon materials from landfill by re-purposing it, explained how the hair clippings from the event would be used in hair booms to absorb oil and chemical spillages. She noted that a one-kilogram hair boom can soak up eight litres of oil and can be reused multiple times.
Special thanks go to the talented teams from C'ba Hair and The Hair Chapel who generously donated their time to clip the boys’ hair.
Thank you to all students, staff, and families who contributed to this important fundraising event; your support will make a meaningful difference.
