Ormiston College is proud to announce that Year 3 teacher, Joanne Waller-Brown has been honoured with The Frank Crowther Inspiring Educator Award for 2025 presented by the Australian Council for Educational Leaders (ACEL) Queensland.

Each year the ACELQ honours educational leaders who, in the view of their colleagues, have made a significant contribution to the understanding and practices of the teaching profession and educational leadership. The Frank Crowther Inspiring Educator Award acknowledges educators whose teaching skills, relationships with students, and attitude towards their work have inspired young people to pursue careers in teaching.

Joanne’s influence has been felt far beyond her classroom. Her enthusiasm for learning and genuine care for her students have left a lasting impression on countless young minds including Old Collegian and now Ormiston College Year 1 teacher, Isabelle Richards, to follow in her footsteps and join the teaching profession. This ripple effect is a testament to Joanne’s ability to ignite a love of learning and model the values of an outstanding educator.

The Ormiston College community was pleased to hear of Joanne’s achievement, and the heartfelt messages of congratulations speak volumes about the difference she has made:

“My boys have both been lucky enough to spend Year 3 with you and your praises were sung daily in our household, they still are. Everyone should be lucky enough to be taught by a Mrs Waller-Brown!”

“You are an amazing teacher who continues to have a big impact on young people long after they have graduated primary school.”

“This recognition is truly well-deserved. You are not only an exceptional teacher but also a genuinely kind and sincere individual. Your dedication has had a profound impact on so many students, and your positive contributions have made a lasting difference in their lives.”

On behalf of the entire Ormiston College community, we extend our warmest congratulations to Joanne on this well-deserved honour.
