On Friday 8 May, our Secondary School Geographers came together to celebrate the 100th birthday of one of the world’s most influential storytellers, environmental advocates and educators, Sir David Attenborough.

Years 10 to 12 Geographers marked the occasion with a class celebration that included cupcakes, party food, and a short reflection video highlighting Sir David’s extraordinary life and legacy. Geographers in Years 7 to 9 gathered during lunchtime to enjoy an ice block and write messages to Sir David Attenborough on our Wall of Action.

From documentaries that transformed how generations see the natural world, to tireless advocacy for the future of our planet, Sir David Attenborough’s impact is immeasurable.

As Sir David once said, “No one will protect what they don’t care about; and no one will care about what they have never experienced.” For so many of our students, Geography is about understanding, valuing and protecting our world.

Thank you, Sir David Attenborough, for inspiring curiosity, wonder and action across generations. What an incredible lifetime of achievement.
