A Message From the Headmaster - Monday 27 April

Posted on 27 April 2020

Thank you for your strong and invaluable support as we all drive forward with some of the biggest changes that have ever impacted Australia’s schools.

We are quickly finding our rhythm for Term 2, and whether students are operating from the campus or from home, they have already extended their knowledge and understanding across a range of learning disciplines.

Our teachers have engineered some amazing online learning activities and the work ethic our students have displayed is outstanding. I am impressed with the way our young people are engaging with the challenge of learning and interacting in new ways.

The adventure continues this week. Secondary students will experience more Live Sessions. The Live Sessions are an opportunity for students and Subject Leaders to connect and engage as a group, online and in real time, where they will review key concepts, answer questions, conduct tutorials, have group discussions or enable explicit teaching.

Following the 30-40 minute Live Sessions for English, Mathematics, Science and Humanities, secondary students on campus will also be able to meet face to face in the classroom to continue working with the Subject Leader.

Our Junior School classrooms were buzzing with activity last week as teachers employed both online and hands-on classroom activities to ensure the children of OC progress with their learning.

The College continues to cater for all families who would like their children learning on campus and it has been wonderful to see so many smiling faces lighting up our classrooms.

We look forward to working alongside all students, whether online or on campus throughout Week 2.

Congratulations to all our students, parents and teachers for navigating the transition to this ‘new normal’. We are sure you are making good progress with your learning, whether it be from home or from campus. Here are some shots from around the College last week. Remember, we are all in this together.
