Welcome to Term 2! We trust you have valued the opportunity to celebrate Easter and spend time with loved ones this past fortnight.
As we take a minute to look back on the year so far, it is clear that Term 1 was not your average term. Then again, OC is not your average school.
Who would have predicted that we would have navigated our way through so much change in just a matter of weeks?
Social distancing… Shifting our whole approach to teaching and learning... Remote pastoral care... Co-curricular activities online... A raft of new policies and procedures... A new normal, at least for now.
Despite the unsettling circumstances, everyone in Team OC has played their part spectacularly well. We congratulate and thank our entire staff team, parents and students for their contributions and valuable support.
As we look forward, we are excited to be reconnecting with our Ormiston College families for a brand-new term and working together to make the most of the weeks ahead.
Remote learning can still be quality learning. We are determined to ensure that Ormiston College students continue to make good progress with their learning and maintain a strong connection to their College, whether they are physically on campus or connecting from home.
As we look at how the COVID-19 crisis has developed around the world, it is clear that we do live in the lucky country.
I would also suggest that we live in a lucky part of our lucky country and that we are also blessed to belong to such a wonderful school community.
We have much to be thankful for but there may still be some obstacles to overcome as the weeks unfold. Please remember that the staff team at OC is only an email or phone call away.
We are all in this together and we look forward to sharing a productive and rewarding Term 2.
