What a night!! With over 1,000 artworks from Visual Art students across the College the 2016 Art Show was a memorable event. Guests enjoyed walking through the ‘Connections’ installation and adding their own connections in the form of a sticker. Further connections were made as images were uploaded onto social media through the selfie hole.
Many guests created a star to add to the ‘Million Stars Project’. Led by the artist Maryann Tahlia Pau, people across Australia are creating stars to raise awareness of how powerful communities can be to stop violence. The stars will be displayed at the Redland Performing Arts Centre in March, and then at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.
The Wearable Art Parade provided inspiring entertainment. We congratulate all of our artists and models. Awards were presented to:
First place: Isabella Thaesler
Second place: Olivia Stennett
First place: Kimberly McIvor
Second place: Haylie Andrews
Third place: Louise Lu and Isabella Spiranac
The overall winner, receiving ‘The Walsh’, was Isabella Thaesler, for her artwork, ‘Earthing’, presented by Mrs Merilyn Walsh.
The Visual Art staff wish to thank all of the Ormiston College artists for contributing to such a successful event. Additionally, they wish to thank the many parents and helpers who helped with the preparations for the show.
