Flags Were Flying at the OC Night of the Proms

The inaugural OC Night of the Proms held last Friday evening was an outstanding success with hundreds of families attending and filling up the Somerset Centre court area.

The vison for this new arena event concept came from our Dean of Music, Emma Dron, and was embraced by all our co-curricular music students and tutors; the end result was a wonderful display of the exceptional talent of both our choral and instrumental ensembles.

The announcement by the Headmaster of Mary Poppins as the 2019 College Musical was an exciting component of the evening. This was followed with a rousing rendition from Kinder Chorus singing Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.

Many families enthusiastically waved their OC flags throughout the evening which signified the true meaning of a Night at the Proms.

We were pleased to see a number of our alumni return to perform with some of our ensembles. This experience would have surely brought back some special memories of their time as students of the College.

The staff band was a big hit with our students and the finale of Viva la Vida from choral and instrumental groups was a wonderful climax to the evening.

A big thank you to Sharon Watson and her team of parent helpers who organised the tables, food and decorations for the event. A sincere thank you to all of our wonderfully talented tutors who so capably teach our students.
