Interhouse Swimming Carnival

The 2015 Interhouse Swimming Carnival was held on Monday 30 November. The joy and enthusiasm seen on the faces of the students was a highlight of the year for many staff and parents. The way in which so many of our best swimmers manage to be highly competitive, yet humble and happy for the success of their swimming rivals is a commendable quality.

Some highlights from the carnival include:

  • Darcy O’Brien breaking the record for the 12 Years 50m Freestyle. This a wonderful feat, and shows that hard work and dedication pays off.
  • Stella Smits and Kody Fisher setting six records each in the first year of the 8 Years students participating in the carnival.
  • The 8 Years Boys showing what great promise there is in the swimming program at Ormiston College.
  • The 10 Years Girls showing great sportsmanship, whilst still displaying a competitive edge. This group are very competitive, yet are all supportive of one another.
  • The war cries at the conclusion of the carnival. Well done to the house captains for organising the war cries, which were some of the loudest and best rehearsed I have seen

Thank you very much to all the parents who have been involved in the lead-up to this carnival. Swimming in the Junior School is progressing very nicely, and your support of your children in their swimming pursuits certainly helps in the positive direction the school, along with the OC Swim Academy, are taking swimming here at OC.

Thank you also to all the support the parent body of the school has given me in taking over Junior Sport in Semester 2 of 2015. I thoroughly enjoyed the semester and look forward to taking sport at the college forward in 2016.
