The Junior School Robotics Club kicked off again this term with 44 enthusiastic students beginning work on their RoboCup project. With the Queensland RoboCup Championship occurring on the weekend of the 13 and 14 August, students were eager to begin work on preparing for either the Dance or Rescue category.
We currently have seven teams preparing for Robocup Dance and nine teams preparing for Robocup Rescue. With statistics showing that females are underrepresented in the STEM profession, it is also encouraging to see that more than 50% of the Junior School Robotics Club are girls. This is an enormous accomplishment and one we should be proud of.
On Thursday 16 June we will be running a Robotics Day for Robotics Club students from 9am to 3pm. The time will be used to further develop their programs, create props and costumes for their performance and will culminate in an internal competition where they can show their robotic dance or rescue to their peers.
We look forward to a great term of robotics!
