The annual Pink Day fixture has become an anticipated OC Rugby tradition. This year marks the seventh year the First XV team have donned pink jerseys in support of fundraising for breast cancer research and awareness programs. To add to the excitement of the day, the draw saw OC face arch-rivals JPC on home ground.
There is no bigger clash then when OC’s First XV pits themselves against the might of JPC. Having not tasted success since 2014, OC was keen to make a statement in front of a big Pink Day crowd – and they did not disappoint. In an epic battle, OC secured a convincing 26 v 10 victory to bring back the Headmaster’s Cup. A junior ‘Rookie to Redback’ warm up and half-time game added to the spirit of the day.
The OC community once again gave generously purchasing pink cupcakes, merchandise and raffle tickets, contributing to the $2,000 raised. Madeline Ross (Year 10) was the winner of the cash prize and Mr Bunting (Senior School Teacher) held the lucky ticket for the Pink Day jersey.
