Schools Tree Day

On Friday 29 July, Schools Tree Day was celebrated by the planting of 40 native shrubs in the gully between the Secondary and Junior Schools by the Environment Committee and Friends. The lunch-time event was well attended, with about 30 students and staff participating. For many students this was their first-ever experience of planting. Mr Neil Thyer, a member of Men of the Trees (an international conservation organisation involved in the planting and protection of trees), was on hand to demonstrate correct planting technique and to oversee the planting. The students are looking forward to seeing the impact of their work on the landscape of the gully in the future.

Congratulations to the students and staff who gave their time and effort to make our College environment better for all of us. Also, a special thanks to one of our dedicated Groundsmen, Mr Grant Anderson, for his hard work in preparing for this event, and to Indigiscapes for providing the plants.
