Year 12 Tree Planting Ceremony

The traditional Year 12 Tree Planting Ceremony, this week, once again marked the beginning of a number of special occasions which celebrate and recognise the contributions of the Seniors during their time at the College.

On the day, College Captains, Sam Meaney and Brittany Bell, addressed the Year 12 cohort before students planted some trees in the recently created garden beds outside the new Centre for Learning and Innovation. In his speech, Sam hinted at the importance of the Year 12 family when he stated, “Today, we will plant our own family of trees. Trees that will grow up together. I think that to have this visual reminder of our legacy outside the fantastic new CLI is truly special.”

The significance of planting a tree on College grounds was not lost on the students. Brittany spoke about leaving a part of themselves behind: “As we embark on our future journeys, a small part of us will be left behind. Behind, we leave our legacies, laughter, memories and spirit.”

Our Year 12s appreciated the chance to contribute to the quality of the natural environment which has always been a special feature of the Ormiston College campus.
